The Christmas Tag (Blogmas Day 1)

Happy 1ST of December everyone! I am going to participate in ‘Blogmas’ this year. For those of you that aren’t aware ‘Blogmas’ is basically where bloggers post something (usually Christmas related) every day until Christmas and that’s what I am going to try and do. Hopefully it’ll get you in the Christmas spirit!

To kick-start the festive posts, here’s my responses to ‘The Christmas Tag’.

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
This is such a difficult question. I have far too many, and with me everything is mood dependent! But I guess I have to answer it, so… I love classic old films – ‘It’s a wonderful Life’ has to be THE Christmas film. But equally, I’m all about the singing and dancing, so ‘White Christmas’ is probably my favourite! (I think a whole blog post needs to be dedicated to this!).

2. Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?
People open all their presents on Christmas Eve? What!?  I mean, when we were younger we used to open one present before bed (JUST ONE!) on Christmas eve, which I really love as a tradition and will probably pass on to my children one day. But as my sister and I have grown up we tend to wait until Christmas Morning.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
This is tricky too. I don’t think I have a specific favourite memory, just lots of little ones. The year I had an ear infection, couldn’t taste my Christmas Dinner, so I just burst into tears and curled up on the sofa  wasn’t a favourite memory at the time (in fact it still isn’t a favourite memory, but more a STRONG memory!) – But on reflection it’s pretty hilarious. I think I just love EVERY Christmas because it’s creating those wonderful memories of being surrounded by family and happiness. (Don’t think I’ve properly answered this question, but let’s pretend I have!).

4. Do you like to stay in your PJs on Christmas Day or dress up?

I like being comfy in my PJs in the morning whilst opening most of the presents. Then I’ll get changed in to something comfy but Christmassy and stylish.

5. If you could only buy one person a present this year, who would it be?
This is so hard. I would want to buy my family and Gareth all something, because they all deserve it. But if I have to pick one, I’ll say my dog, Wax. All the people I couldn’t buy presents for, would be made happy by watching Wax open his!

6. Have you ever built a gingerbread house?
At a sleepover once when I was in Year 7 we tried building one… This year I’m going to attempt it. Again, I can’t eat it – but it’ll be fun!

7. Favourite Festive Food?
TURKEY. I don’t eat it all year, only at Christmas. It makes it taste so much better.

8. Favourite Christmas Gift?
I love every gift I receive!  When I was younger I got my first ever Violin. I think that will always be a favourite because it led to so much Musical love in my life.

9. Candy cane or gingerbread man?
Candy Cane.

10. Favourite Christmas Scent?
Controversially, it’s not the smell of Christmas dinner cooking! I love the smell of Christmas pudding. I can’t eat it, but I love the smell. Also, cinnamon and orange – can you get more Christmassy?

11. Do you have any Christmas Eve Traditions?
We always eat ‘nibbles’ rather than a full dinner; I guess the best way to describe it is a bit of a homemade ‘buffet’/’tapas’ style dinner. We also always go for a family walk and all watch a Christmas film together.

12. What tops your Christmas Tree?
An Angel.

13. As a kid what was one crazy gift you always asked for but never received?
I always got Argos catalogues and circled all the things I wanted (please tell me I’m not the only one!). I think I used to repeatedly write ‘mobile phone’ on my Christmas list when I was far too young to have one too.

14. What’s the best part of Christmas for you?
EVERYTHING! I love coming together as a family and sharing gifts; I really enjoy seeing everyone’s reactions to what I chose for them. All of this followed by silly cracker jokes and an incredible meal. I love the giggles…I love watching my dog open presents…I love the festive feeling that everyone has. I also enjoy it getting later and watching a film together, and I can enjoy some more of that Turkey I mentioned above. I think the best part really is how happy and positive everything feels on that one special day a year.

15. Any Christmas wishes?
Only a MILLION. I just wish that everyone is happy and healthy.

  1. I watch Die Hard every year on Christmas Eve. I know it’s not your traditional Christmas film but it’s one of those weird traditions I’ve picked up over the years. Now it’s just stuck. I also watching While You Were Sleeping every year. What a film!

  2. I don’t get people who open presents on Christmas Eve. Its Christmas Day for a reason and my family have to do Turkey especially for me I love it. Gingerbread house wouldn’t ever get made I’d eat it before it was made 😂 xxx

  3. Circling things on the Argos catalogue was also my yearly tradition haha! My little sister does the same now (I also frequently asked for a mobile phone😂) x
